Botox® for Aging Skin

Dr. McCauliffe introduced the use of Botox at the University of North Carolina in the 1990’s. He has lectured on the medical and cosmetic use of Botox and has taught numerous physicians on how to safely and effectively use Botox for treating aging skin lines and hyperhidrosis.

Botox is a protein that blocks a nerve’s ability to cause muscle contraction. It can be used to dramatically improve crow’s feet and forehead frown lines. Several small injections are made into the muscles of those areas. This procedure only takes a few minutes and causes minimal discomfort. It is a very inconspicuous procedure with very conspicuous results.

The following before & after photos are from patients treated by Dr. McCauliffe.

Crow’s Feet

This patient had three small injections into the crow’s feet area. The after picture was taken one week following treatment.

Frown Lines

This patient had several small injections into the scowl area (circle) and forehead frown lines (arrows). The after picture was taken one week following treatment. The patient was trying to frown as much as possible in both pictures. Note the improvement in the scowl lines and the forehead frown lines.

Neck Cords

Note the improvement in the appearance of this patient’s neck after only one treatment. The ridged neck cords have flattened producing a much smoother appearance.

Botox® treatment is an inconspicuous procedure with very conspicuous results

Only a few injections are needed to treat each wrinkled area. These injections take only a few minutes. Patients tolerate this procedure well with minimal discomfort. After treatment you can immediately return to your daily activities, usually with no visual evidence that the procedure was performed. The initial Botox® injections start taking effect within 2 to 7 days, last several months, and gradually wear off. Subsequent injections have longer lasting effects.

Hyperhidrosis
(excessive perspiration)

For underarm perspiration only a few injections are needed for each area. This is a rather painless and quick procedure. For treating heavy perspiration of the hands, multiple very small injections are needed for best results. Topical anesthetic cream and two injections numb the hand to minimize the discomfort. The initial injections start taking effect within 2 to 7 days and lasts up to a year in some patients.

The picture was taken two weeks after treatment of the left underarm only.
